The Areas We Cover
We work out of Manhattan and cover the towns around it: Ogden, seven miles east; Riley, fourteen miles northwest; Wamego, sixteen miles east; Junction City, seventeen miles south; Westmoreland, eighteen miles north; and Randolph, nineteen miles northeast. We also take calls from Fort Riley, Main Post, all within a fifteen-minute drive of the shop.
That radius isn't arbitrary. It's close enough that a tech can get to a stuck door or a snapped spring without burning half a day on the road, and it keeps us working on doors we actually know - the same handful of builders, the same openers, the same hardware runs showing up house after house across these seven areas. We don't take jobs that put a truck two hours out just to say yes to the call.
The Work We Take On
Across Manhattan and the surrounding towns, most of the housing stock went up between 1966 and 2007, with a lot of it clustering around 1974. That means we see a predictable mix: steel sectional doors from the 70s and 80s with worn rollers and tired torsion springs, and newer builds from the 2000s where the opener's logic board or the safety sensors are the first thing to fail.
We fix broken springs, cables, and rollers; replace worn torsion hardware; repair bent tracks and off-track doors; service and replace openers; and swap out panels on doors that are otherwise sound. What we don't do is pretend a 40-year-old door with rotted panels and a rusted track is worth patching twice - at that point we'll tell you replacement costs less over time than a string of repair calls. Kansas winters are cold enough that a door that doesn't seal right is a real problem, not a cosmetic one, so insulation and weatherstripping come up often in this climate band.
Who Does the Work
The person who answers the phone is the same type of person who shows up with the truck
Someone who's spent real time under torsion springs and inside opener housings, not a dispatcher routing you to a subcontractor. We quote the job before we start it, and if we get into a door and find something the first look didn't show - a bent track hiding a cracked panel, say - we stop and tell you before any extra work happens.
We're straightforward about what a job needs
If a spring repair will hold for years, we say so. If the opener is past the point of fixing and parts are hard to source for a 20-year-old unit, we say that too, rather than stringing out a repair that won't last.
What Comes Next
If your door's stuck, making noise, or the opener's quit, call (785) 203-9720. We're based at 1880 Kimball Ave in Manhattan, KS 66502, which puts us within easy reach of the towns we cover. Tell us what the door's doing - won't open, won't close, off track, loud - and we can usually tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a quick fix or something bigger.
We don't do sales pitches over the phone. We ask what's wrong, get a tech out, and give you a straight answer about what it'll take to fix it.
